I wanted to tell everyone about my first wonderful experience with the Texas Ferret Lover's Rescue. I recently adopted from them a companion for my fuzzy, Weasel.
There are so many sweet, adorable ferrets waiting for forever homes- different ages, colors, shapes, and sizes. All ferrets have been checked by a vet and are healthy, have been vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and are microchipped. There are also cages and ferret supplies for sale at a discounted rate.
The great thing about adopting from a ferret rescue/shelter is that you are helping the ferrets and ferret rescues are EXTREMELY knowledgeable. You are usually able to contact them 24/7 if you ever need help with your fuzzies.

Our new addition is Slinky, a husky little DEW about Weasel's age. Once we arrived we were able to see all the ferrets, interact with them, and figure out the perfect choice for us. This task was extremely difficult because they are all such sweeties. Since this new ferret was to be a playmate for Weasel, we picked Slinky for his age and size. Beautiful little boy and already adjusting well. There's lots of squabbling between the boys now but they are getting more used to each other.
Here's pictures from Slinky's night of arrival (2 nights ago):
(Slinky- dark-eyed white)
(Weasel- dark sable)
They slept separately the first night. The next day started with continued rough-housing (chasing, biting, hissing), but they crashed out together once tired:

If you're considering purchasing a ferret, PLEASE consider adopting from a ferret rescue/shelter. We have some listed in our Adoptions section and if you're in the East Dallas surrounding area (or in driving distance), I strongly recommend adopting from the Texas Ferret Lover's Rescue. These ferrets are all friendly, have great personalities, are in good health, and are very well cared for.
